M-AHSC GROUSE TRIAL - SUNDAY FEBRUARY 8, 2009

2007 Grouse Trial

The Eleventh Annual M-AHSC Grouse Trial will be held at the Hill Country Whitetails Sporting Preserve Blue Ridge Summit, PA on Sunday, February 8, 2009. The event is open to all flushing spaniels.

Judges:
Open / Gun Dog: Rich Palmer and Mike Shaw.
Puppies: Julie Hogan and Jim Zimmerman.

Gun Captain: Jim Zimmerman

All stakes will be run in wooded cover (typical grouse cover). Chukar Partridges will be used in all stakes.

The following stakes will consist of two series, each series will consist of at least two contacts. Additional contacts and callbacks for the second series will be at the judge's discretion. (Complete rules and standards will be available for review at the grounds)

  • Unsteady puppy: This stake is open to all flushing spaniels 6 months old to 2 years of age. This stake does not require your dog to be steady.
  • Steady puppy: This stake is open to all flushing spaniels 6 months old to 2 years of age. This stake requires your dog to be completely steady.
  • Gun Dog: This stake is open to all flushing spaniels 6 months old or older that have not placed in an All- Age stake of a licensed trial. This stake does not require your dog to be steady.
  • Open: This stake is open to all flushing spaniels 6 months old or older. This stake requires your dog to be completely steady.

Registration: Registration for all stakes will start at 7:30 am the day of the event. The first stake will start at 8:00 am. Entries will remain open until the start of that particular stake. Entry fee for each stake will be $50.00. Dogs may be entered in more than one stake provided they meet the entry rules for that stake.

Prizes: A trophy will be awarded for first place in each stake. Rosettes will be awarded for first through fourth place of each stake.

Safety: All people on the course must wear a visible item of blaze orange clothing. We also strongly recommend safety glasses and snag/tear proof clothing.

Food: Coffee and muffins will be provided for breakfast. Soup and sandwiches will be provided for lunch at a fee of $5.00.

Blue Ridge Summit is equidistant between Hagerstown, MD, Chambersburg, PA and Frederick MD, located just north of the state line in Pennsylvania. Traveling on I-81, North of Hagerstown (I-70) and South of Chambersburg, take Route 16 East at Greencastle towards Waynesboro, PA. Continue East past Waynesboro for a total of about 13 miles to Blue Ridge Summit, PA. Turn right onto Jacob's Church Road immediately past railroad tracks. Hill Country will be on the left in 1 mile.


From the East, on Route 15 Between Gettysburg PA and Frederick MD, take MD Rt. 140 West at Emmitsburg. MD Rt. 140 will become PA Route 16 at the state line. Continue west on Route 16 about 7 miles. As you enter town of Blue Ridge Summit, turn left onto Jacob's Church Road, immediately before railroad tracks. Hill Country will be on the left in 1 mile.
